At St Catherine’s College, the Design and Technology curriculum is designed to prepare students to stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers locally, nationally, and globally. The Design and Technology Department seeks to: 

• Develop students’ practical designing and making abilities, encouraging creativity and innovation to solve real and relevant problems. 
• Provide opportunities for students to apply knowledge and skills from a broad range of disciplines, including art, engineering, mathematics, science, and computing. 
• Build confidence in using a variety of tools, materials, and equipment, helping students develop the technical expertise needed to succeed in both their personal and professional lives. 
• Promote lateral thinking and problem-solving, skills that are vital in preparing students for the challenges of the modern world. 

Our curriculum empowers students by: 

• Encouraging them to use a wide range of materials, equipment, and tools to explore, create, and innovate. 
• Introducing them to state-of-the-art technologies, such as computer-aided design (CAD), to enhance their research and design capabilities. 
• Providing access to well-equipped workshops, where students can develop practical manufacturing skills and bring their ideas to life.
